We know how daunting it can be to ensure you complete the Extra Mural Studies (EMS) that your university expects you to do. We are here to support you to not only do the right number of weeks in the type of practice you wish to experience but also to ensure that you get the best learning experience while you are with us.

N.B. EMS placements are only for those already studying to be a vet at University.

If you're interested in undertaking EMS with us, just follow these simple steps:

  • Submit your application

    Tell us about yourself – your ambitions and aspirations and what you are hoping from your EMS placement. Please supply your University email address as verification of your eligibility for an EMS placement.

  • We'll be in touch

    When you complete the form an email will be sent to your chosen practice(s) to respond to your request for a placement. Please do include as much information as possible in your covering letter. It is particularly important that you are specific about your preferred dates. If you do not receive a reply within 10 working days please email ems@ivcevidensia.com for assistance.

Frequently asked questions

Most practices will offer placements of one or two weeks depending on availability.
Yes, we have numerous equine and farm practices that would like to hear from you.

Please contact farm.ems@ivcevidensia.com if you would like help selecting an appropriate farm practice.
Inevitably the opportunities for clinical procedures will vary between practices according to time of year and case load. When you arrive at a practice for the first time, please do be proactive and take the time to discuss with an appropriate person such as the Clinical Director your level of experience and aspirations for what you are hoping to achieve during the placement. This gives everyone the best chance to ensure that you have the ‘right’ opportunities during your time in the practice.
